Sculpture On The Edge - Spicers Sculpture Award
Sculpture on the Edge is one of numerous awards and categories within the Sunshine Coast Art Prize 10th anniversary celebration, with over $125,000 in cash prizes available for artists. Mediums include painting, sculpture, public art, photography, new media (including projections, animation, street art, digital photography, videography and more).
Sunshine Coast Council’s ongoing contribution of $15,000 for the ten year strong Sunshine Coast Art Prize, has grown exponentially through partner contributions and significant philanthropy and sponsorship to become one of the nation’s most significant regional visual arts awards.
Sculpture on the Edge is a showcase of Queensland sculptures culminating in the Spicers Sculpture Award, led by Arts Connect Inc. The project began in 2010 and became the Spicers Award in 2014. Eighteen Southeast Queensland sculptors participated with 36 pieces of work. These were installed for 2 months at Spicers Tamarind Retreat Maleny.
In 2015 the Spicer Sculpture Award will become the three dimensional category of the Sunshine Coast Art Prize in a significant partnership between Sunshine Coast Council, Arts Connect Inc. and Spicers Tamarind, with up to fifty works exhibited on the grounds of Spicers Tamarind.
In 2015 the winner of the Spicers Sculpture Award will receive $10,000, donated by Spicers Tamarind Retreat and Arts Connect Inc.
A key outcome for 2015 will be the planning and development of a seaside sculptural program (also called ‘Sculpture On The Edge’ in 2016).
